Suggestion to Planners...

OK, I have a suggestion to planners with nothing negative against my current hosts, because it happens many MANY times. 
I flew in this morning, getting here about 12.  I do not have an event until 6 pm. Even though I got a lot of work done today-I don't know if I know anyone else in the hotel, I was not aware of the local shuttle that went around for the whooping price of $.50 until 5 minutes ago, I had the time to see the area today-but once the events begin-I won't have anytime.
So, in the spirit of not mentioning a problem without having a solution...
A few suggestions:
Make attendees aware of interesting points of interest and especially low cost touring options
Offer site visits before the fun begins if possible
Have a lounge area/hospitality suite where attendees can hang after they arrive and before the events begin


Any other suggestions?

Gasparilla Pirate Weekend--Tampa, FL

Today starts the fun that is Gasparilla Pirate Weekend. This will be my first "partaking" of the event-thanks to the Hyatt Regency Tampa hosting me. I had a little pirate waiting for me when I arrived in my room along with some yummy snacks. I personally LOVE the food waiting when I check-in after traveling-water, real food, not just sweets--TOTALLY ROCKS!! I am looking forward to seeing not only the Hyatt Regency but also the Grand Hyatt Tampa who is hosting our pirate party tonight. Pics and details to come....
